About us

QUIBIOMECS is a multidisciplinary chemistry research group at the University of the Basque Country working at the interface of organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, computational modelling, catalysis, supramolecular chemistry and functional molecular systems.

The group combines experimental and theoretical approaches to understand chemical reactivity, design new molecular entities and develop technologies with applications in health, sensing, materials, sustainability and industrial chemistry.

Our team

Technological capabilities

  • Organic and enantioselective synthesis

Design and synthesis of complex organic molecules, chiral catalysts and enantioselectiveenriched compounds.

  • Medicinal chemistry

Rational design and synthesis of new chemical entities with potential anticancer or antibacterial activity.

  • Supramolecular and sensor chemistry

Development of fluorescent and phosphorescent indicators for selective ion capture.
